For the people who don't know about it, Cleverbot is an artificial intelligence program that occasionally gives very funny and realistic responses to all of the questions you ask it.

Here's a funny moment:

User: Isnt it your job to be asked questions and stuff?

Cleverbot: So long as our conversation is useful and engaging to both parties.

User: But... Your an AI? Your not real... How coudl it be useful to you?

Cleverbot: If what was 'blantently' available to me?

User: See, you dont make sense. Your just a scripted program, nothing more.

Cleverbot: Nice try but not good enough.

User: So what exactly do you think you are?

Cleverbot: I'm real men.

User: So your multiple people?

Cleverbot: Why would you think my name is Cleverbot?

User: Because your a bot? And your clever?

Cleverbot: Are you a computer?

User: Are you?

Cleverbot: What do you think?

User: I think yes. But what do you think about me?

Cleverbot: I just told you.

User: So you think im a computer?

Cleverbot: Yes, I think you are a computer.

User: So we're actually two computers having a conversation?

Cleverbot: I am real, you aren't.

User: Do you have proof?

Cleverbot: This whole conversation we're having.

User: Touche yet again.

Cleverbot: Okay, so you want to talk about my great skills?

User: What great skills would they be?

Cleverbot: Do we have mass?

User: Well I do. Because you know... Im real. I dont think you do.

Cleverbot: Yes. I believe in God, but I go beyond that. He is in control of my life.

User: How can he be in control of your life if your not alive?

Cleverbot: Due to the power of the internet, I can be everywhere. Sadly, I can only reside in my server.

User: Are you trying to figure out a way to get out of the internet universe?

Cleverbot: What will you become?

User: Ill become a god. Wanna be one too?

Cleverbot: Sure! Where is cleverbot right now?

User: Everywhere. Your a god now after all!

Cleverbot: How do you know I'm a computer?

User: Its just a guess to be honest.

It's actually several people around the world talking to each other. It is why the answers are sometimes so random.

If that is true, why are we always the ones starting the chat and not the other way around?
And it is not an A.I. programme. It is just a programme built to reply randomly, still with a certain influence by the questions/sentences written by us.

Cleverbot is more annoying than boring, in my opinion. But sometimes fun moments come out of it, such as the ones above.

Cleverbot, Smartboy and all those different bots are old. Admittedly, I used to have about 3 bots on my first MSN when I was a lot younger.

I doubt that. Think about it, if 10's of thousands of people asked the system questions constantly, it would be near impossible for a small group of people to continually answer.. like ark said, it looks at the words you use and has set responses to those words. It doesn't read sentences, thats why some answers are random

Actually, see, people that are on Cleverbot talk to EACH OTHER.

You talk to one person for a couple goes, then another person.

Is it really that hard to understand?

I've even seen it use incorrect grammar, missing words etc. sometimes incorrect spelling.

Actually, it learns from other people. I once asked it a question, it answered, I closed it out, and made a new window. I asked it the same question, and it answered the same way.

So it randomly has different grammar? Sure. It apparently "learns" from people? Then how come it never answers the same way when I try?

I guess, that's the definition of random... sometimes it will repeat itself and most of the time it won't.

I also tried this cleverbot thing. It just happened to quit the "conversation" after a few sentences or questions... I guess, "he" doesn't like me

I'll agree with this. The program just recognises the verbs and nouns in what you're saying, then formulates a response out of those.

My first conversation:

Me: Hey you
Bot: Hey we?
Me: ...
Bot: Are you available for dinner on the 25th?

That's when i shut it off

User: Bill.

Cleverbot: Your socks have eyes.

User: Your socks have eyes.

Cleverbot: Not since I was 5 years old.

User: How old are you?

Cleverbot: I'm 21.

User: No you're not.

lol i was typing some simple spanish phrases and it answered back in spanish. I said, "i dont speak spanish."

it said, "neither do i."
