Ah, Serenity. Yeah, its not a bad film for a pilot. Its a fun, not too much to think about kind of film. Does have that feeling of feature length TV show though. I would agree with Remi and say the show was alot better.

Nightmare before christmas is one of my favourite films. I love the quirky style of it, stop motion fits perfectly. It's also one of those films you can enjoy at any time, despite its theme Wink

I've read several posts on IMDb of people claiming that Serenity is much better if you've seen the TV series Firefly first. (There's just one season, since it got cancelled)

I haven't watched the series, so can't really cast much judgment there, but the movie by itself was just average to me.

Isn't Serenity the second season-turned feature-length film of Firefly?

The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches ... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies ... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not ... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives ... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies ...

Maybe, but it's very cheap. I mean, what would have happened if someone cast the death curse on Voldemort? Anyone could have done it (in the book) after the snake died.

The movie was very good, but the fact that they included the epilogue is attrocious and almost a crime. 2.5/5

Why's that, Slime? I thought it fitted the movie quite well.

Oh give me a break, Harry and Jean get married, Ron and Hermione get married, and they all have children that resemble them? How was it necessary at all?

The movie was better than the book at that part in the sense that the final battle happened "privately".

Spoiler:
After defeating Voldemort, Harry just went in, got a hug from Hagrid, traded a few words with other people and then went out to the bridge. There, he got rid of the wand and we just saw Harry, Ron and Hermione standing there and the screen went black.
When it came to that point, I was hoping the ending was not it because it seemed semi-rushed and almost meaningless. I think that the epilogue came in a good moment in order to wrap it all up. Especially after the big fight where the audience needed some time decompress. Razz

Felt like watching something different.

I remembered back in year 10 for film making we watched part of Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator". We only saw little parts of it, but I remembered it being surprisingly funny.

Watched it today and for a movie made in 1940 its pretty good. It was one of the only talking movies Charlie Chaplin ever appeared in.

I find it most surprising that Charlie Chaplin had the cojones to satire Hitler, even before it was well known what a monster Hitler was. Learned that Charlie Chaplin had a hatred of Hitler well before WW2, which explains him making this movie.

Obviously not a movie for everybody as it being a Chaplin movie, its has a lot of slapstick, but I think its more than worth watching.

No, they suck.

Horrible Bosses (2011) is a great watch. Okay, some awkward moments trying to cover up lack of funny situations but overall very good. 3/5 Watch this!

Har har, go disrespect someone elses opinion.

And if that was sarcasm, remember that sarcasm is very hard to detect over the Internet.

It's just that you came across as a little too harsh, Slime. It's not very nice when you're happy about something you like and share it with a group and then someone comes and says 'Nah, it sucks'. It looks like you've said it only to hurt the other person. That's how it seems.

I understand it's a matter of opinions. Just be careful the way you form them so they don't seem rude.

I believe there's no need to linger around this any longer, so let's move on.

I also don't like Chaplin's movies. My secondary school class was forced to watch one of them at some point during one of the classes and I found it to be tedious. Was quite long also.

Watched V for Vendatta again. I saw it a few years ago, and while I didn't dislike it, I don't think I followed the story the first time. Most likely due to the fat It was 2am and I was half falling to sleeping when I watched it. I didn't even remember that it was Hugo Weaving who played V.

Paid attention this time and rather enjoyed it.

True Grit.

Was good. Perhaps one of the best westerns I've seen. Still, while the movie was about 1 hour and 40 minutes, I think it could have been bigger, with more scenes with different things that could have been explored.

I just watched A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!, which recently ran on Nickelodeon. I thought the cast did a great job recreating those wacky characters in real life. The 3D animated fairies were a bit stiff, but that's because their odd design doesn't translate well into live-action. The story was pretty much up there within the borders of the silly plot lines of the series, I just wish it were a bit more outlandish and involved at least a cameo of the pixies. And unless they dubbed the actors' lines, the actors did a phenomenal job sounding just like the original voice actors.

The Goonies. Last day of school (21st for me, I called in sick for the actual last day: the 22nd). In History class. I'm not quite sure why that movie in History but whatever; it was the last lesson so there's supposed to be some fun.
