Sorry, I haven't seen that.

I did see Fish Tank last night, dealt with some very adult themes, but was essentially quite surreal. I quite liked it.

Saw the Simpsons movie today. Was better than I thought - The way it was made actually made it seem like a funny movie and not an extended episode. Thumbs up.

I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and it was a good movie but nothing was really memorable about it. Basically the story goes from a lab, to a house, to a animal control place, to a bridge. You might be able to see why just by reading my past sentence.

Saw Red today while over at some friends. I had actually decided to skip that movie because the previews had not made me much excited about it, however, it is quite funny and the action is great. John Malkovich rules in this one. Razz

I liked the Simpson's movie as well and yet alot of people I know didn't like it and hearing reviews about it, many people didn't like it. Not sure why.

I saw Good Will Hunting yesterday. As expected, it's a pretty good movie that passes an important message across. Not that original anymore but still a very nice work.

---

The original Planet of the Apes. Was a very nice movie. Good story and the monkey suits actually didn't look that bad. Razz

---

Just saw the second movie of the original Planet of the Apes series. A much more serious ending, this one had. Looking forward for the third. Very Happy

Star Wars, the original trilogy and the newer trilogy.

Of course, the original trilogy was pretty damn good, but the newer trilogy I feel wasn't as good as the first trilogy. Apart from Jar Jar Binks and Anakin whining so much, I guess it's because it uses a lot more CGI and it doesn't feel real to me. Sure you knew the puppets in the original are fake, but they don't have that gloss to them that CGI images have.

When you have something solid to act upon you get a better performance, that's why I hate when they resort to CGI, even for the smallest things.

Currently watching 10,000 BC for a second time. The first was a few years ago.

A nice pre-historic/adventure movie. Resembles Apocalypto in some ways.

Lol, I'm watching this movie on an annoying channel that sends a lot of commercial breaks, all starting with the same ad, so every half hour Captain America and a hand full of soldiers storm in suddenly into a pre-historic scenario. ><

I just watched Hot Shots again after ages. Can't believe it's been 20 years already. Shocked

Anyway, I miss parodies like that. They had their own story and added just the right amount of jokes in it without going overboard, not like those XYZ Movie parodies of today who rely too much on sex and fart jokes than actually presenting us with a quasi-unique story line filled with silly characters oblivious to their even sillier surroundings.

I think there's also a Hot Shots 2, which was also as good as the prequel Wink

Last movie I saw was Kung Fu Panda 2 a month or so ago. It did have some good scenes, and maintained the originality, but really didn't stand up to the first movie on storyline and playthough.

I don't mean to sound mean or anything but here goes....

World Trade Center has not even finished yet, and I have spent the entire movie forgetting it is about a real event, and picking holes in it. They spend about ten minutes discussing the fact that people are needed in tower 2, before the second plane hit. The entire movie seems like an attempt to trivialise the tragedy. If it was not about a real event, I would think it was a B-Movie about the end of the world. The acting, despite having an Oscar winner in it, is on a par with a school nativity.

My opinion is avoid it and if I had lost loved ones in the event, I would be offended by it.

Yes, the thing about it is that it doesn't depict it as a (national) tragedy, but as a personal history of some people caught in some disaster.

...
I want to say that Final Destination 5 is actually the best of the series.

It is like a bad charity song - will do well because it is for a good cause, not because it is good.

---------

Easily one of the worst series of films I can think of Slime Laughing

I remember, right after 9/11, my performance class was discussing that somebody somewhere must've already started writing the script to that film. I've never seen it but I went to see Flight 93 because one of my acting teachers was in it as the first flight attendant to get shot. I still believe about 60-70% in that film was based on artistic license.

When it comes to real-life tragedies, they always turn it into an impossible melodrama with facts that never happened, characters that didn't exist and overblown acting just to get an award or two.

Paul.

Was funny. Took some bashing on religion, which I don't mind, but many viewers probably took it the wrong way.

That's how it works, same with storytelling. Exaggeration for extra effect. Destroys the simplicity and moral of the whole thing, I agree.
