Little Help Please

If you've noticed I haven't created for quite some time. That is because Spore is not working properly.

I'm making a creation. One of my best ever. I click paint, BOOM! Spore stops working. I have to shut off my computer and re-boot it. Same thing happens if I click save so I can paint it later.

I really don't want to uninstall then re-install. Is there anything else I could do to fix this?

I think uninstalling and reinstalling are your only options Blaze, i don't know anything else which would work

Although it might steal you some time, I also believe re-installing could help.

You can backup your creations so they will not be lost.

Find the Spore file containing your creations. It'll contain the shared and the unshared creations you have made. Then just make copies.

Whenever you want to upload them, open Spore in window mode, go into the editor and drag the creation in.

Just copy the My spore creations folder, and paste it somewhere else. (In My Documents)

@Ark: By make copies do you mean copy and paste all the individual creations? And how do I open Spore in window mode?

I believe fool isn't the one that does not know - It is the one that does not want to learn something he/she will need.

To open Spore in window mode, open the game and go to video settings. There's an option somewhere that lets you play in Window mode.

Regarding the copy of creations, copy the ones you want to save. Feel free to put them wherever. Then when you want to get them into the game, just drag them into it.

@Ark: Like cwar said, could I just copy the My Spore Creations folder, put it in My Documents, and drag it back in?

By the way, how do you drag it in?

If you have Spore in Window mode, you can just select the creation you want in the folder and drag it (left click + hold) into the editor.

Try copying the Creations folder, then make sure all the creations are in afterwards.

It is possible to just paste the pngs back into the my creations folder.

I'm looking at My Spore Creations folder, and it says I have no vehicles, buildings, etc. It only shows 19 of my creations. What does this mean?

Are you sure you're not checking an old My Spore Creations folder?

At some point I had two of those folders, one for my current Spore installation and another from a previous one.

But when I go into Spore, it shows all of my creations

@Ark: From what I can see there's only one. The 19 creations shown are the last 19 I created. Everything past that is not visible

Ok, if I'm not mistaken, if you made creations in a previous installation, they are on Spore.com only (and will download onto the game once you login through the Spore game)
The creations you made in this installation are the ones that will appear on your My Spore Creations folder.

I'm not 100% sure on this, though.

Backing up creations is only truly useful if they have not been shared. Because if they have, you can always download them again.

If you re-install, you will still have your account, friends, subs, comments and shared creations - Only they need to download once more because they are on Spore.com only.

You will lose stuff you have not shared, unless you back it up.

I delete everything I haven't shared so thats ok.

So like when I got my new computer, I had to re-install Spore, and everything took a few hours to download again. Is that what will happen this time as well?

You will need to login with your current Spore account on the re-installed game, in order to let your account content (subs, comments, friends, creations) download.
If you play offline, then you will have nothing.
