Oh, I meant Luddy is hard to kill with the hammer XD

Barroth takes plenty of impact damage! But going for a water element is the best thing with him, he takes water damage only when he is muddy and fire only when he has all the mud off of him. Seeing as he's muddy all the time nearly... Yeah.

For the time you'll want to follow the Luddy path with weapons as they are probably the best ones at that stage. You'll want to get some peco stuff too, because they become pretty badass weapons later and loads of monsters are weak to fire in some way.

Lol, yeah its wierd where they placed him offline, I think he's harder than Gobul... Plus, like you said, not many of the armours have opened up for him.

My first attempt took ages, almost 45 mins and I died >.< my second, I got him but only after a very very long time again. I used the peco SnS too, lol what a fail.

He's still one of my fave to fight though ^^

Gluehoppers are in the sandy plains I think. Just do a run of somthing you find easy there, I think the herbivore egg quest is probably your best bet, if thats open yet? If the sandy plains harvest tour is open you could try that too. I've forgotten what order they go Laughing

Take tonnes of bug nets and you should have enough. You can get them on those quests as rewards too. Sucks you cant farm them, I remember them being hassle when I needed them too. Good luck with finding them! Very Happy

haha, yeah. if you want some good tutorials, on youtube, SocialDissonance he does tutorials for each monster with each weapon type. I learnt a fair bit from him.

Apart from that the MH wiki is your friend, even if some of the numbers are a bit lolwut.

Oh I watch SocialDissonance all the time.
I love his ramblings lol
And the wiki is a big help too

Oh, and do Screamers have any use whatsoever, or are they just there to aggravate my lack of King's Frills?
Also, I cannot for the life of me destroy the Quru's beak.

Post by Red-Indigo Wed May 25, 2011 7:36 pm

Haha, yeah he is quite funny, the monster podcast is funny too with all the different things they try out. The wiki has saved my life many times.

Screamers, yes, you need them, hoard as many as you can. If you combine them with gunpowder you can make sonic bombs. This is extremley helpful later on!

Lol, King's frills, they can be a pain to get at this stage. Later you'll be swimming in the things. The only advice I can give with them is just keep spamming the kill/cap jaggi quests, its pretty much just luck (and the fact the desire sensor on your wii knows you want them...)

Pecos beak is hell to break. Switch axe is usually a good choice as it has the reach other weps don't, but basicly anything with a good reach. I usually do it with lance offline, because that way you can guard the fireblast, unlike with the SwAx.

If you want him to stay still, shock trapping him will keep his beak still. Sonic bombing him mid call has a similar effect, but will be harder to reach, not to mention he will sway a little. You could try a pitfall and bombs too or even bounce bombs to help soften it up, I don't know what sort of budget you have though. I remember being really skint all the time untill I got online Razz

Oh haha I'm loaded right now in terms of cash. Razz
I'm farming icethaw pellets at the farm, and I can earn a couple thousand everytime I sell. (Thank you SocialDissonance)

Bombs and switch axe sound simple enough. I'll try that.

Lol, Im still at work, although its quiet (and Im being lazy).

I still have another rank to go anyway and I still need some los parts to add another level of crit draw and I still need barioth parts so i can get nardebosche, or I will fail hard.

Thanks anyway though, I intend to get back on MH after the weekend, when I have tonnes more time. So maybe then? Very Happy

EDIT: Oh and I probably still need to do some key quests, as most of my levels have come from grinding for parts Xp

Yup, I like to be mobile. Although it annoys me when you get the superpound timing wrong and it ends up being the spin attack...

I think its great you are trying loads of different weapons, I just stuck with SnS, kind of wished I'd built up a few different weapons now... Oh well, more to grind for!

@Kevin: I think we'll get the parts easily, I only need one los Carapace to finish my set and I think 2 more Barioth claws+ so lots of capping poor old Bari. I looked at the wiki and I still need to do high rank barroth and then I think I'll be clear...

Heh yeah. Different monsters would require different weapons I guess.
There's no way I could've beat the Luddy with a SnS in the water. Thank goodness for the hammer
