Quite a few crazy airports around the world but I found these 2 pretty striking

Gibraltar Airport

I was told by a former Commercial Pilot that Aviation rules dictate that no road should be within 500 feet of any aircraft, whether it be in the air or on the ground.

To this end, Jersey Airport (Channel Islands) breaks the rules.

I guess that Bournemouth Airport breaks the rules too.

Pretty much every airport breaks the rule, Trick, problem is it is enshrined in the Aviation Rules, but not in any National Laws. So the airport gets built somewhere, and then a road is built - the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) say the airport is fine, and then the road builders ignore it.

My question about the second set of pictures is, Why on earth would you want to be on a beach with Airbuses and 747s flying some 30 metres above your head?

If nothing else I imagine the fumes wouldn't be very pleasant.

Indeed, but I was also thinking The sound of an Airbuses and 747s is ear shattering in decibels. I don't see how I could have a pleasant beach experience with that sort of noise going on.

I found the first set of pictures just funny. Like Ark said, its like a railway crossing, except for planes. If nothing else, that would certainly be an interesting thing to see first hand.
