You're right, I guess. Despite the lower cache and lower Ghz, the Phenom II X6 gets better reviews.
Any cost saving ideas? More expensive RAM won't be happening

Well, here's my updated specs, shorthand
Intel CPU Core i5 2400 Sandy Bridge Quad Core Processor
Asus P8H67-M-LE Rev3 Intel H67
Corsair Memory XMS3 6GB DDR3 1600 Mhz CAS 9 Dual Channel Desktop
1GB Asus GTS 450 DirectCU OC 3800MHz GDDR5 192 Cores, DVI/ HDMI
Corsair 60GB Nova Series 2 SSD - 2.5" SATA-II - Read 270MB/s Write 240MB/s
Seagate Barracuda HDD 250GB 7200r/pm
Cooler Master Elite 430 Black
Coolermaster 450W GX PSU
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Total is £574.17
Still over budget, but getting better in terms of bang for buck. Any places where I've specced a bit too high or low for my needs?

You're buying a micro ATX motherboard with two RAM slots. Don't buy a micro ATX motherboard, buy an ATX motherboard.
You're also buying 3 sticks of RAM, which is a waste of money unless if you buy a motherboard with 6 slots.
Also, did you research the SSD or did you just pick one because you heard they were good and you found one with a pretty low price? I'd do some research before buying an SSD. The one you selected seems to have reliability and performance issues.

Right, I'll take a look and change that. Also, I did take a little look at The SSD, about it etc. But I didn't see many reviews. Could you tell me what manufacturer and model would be similarly priced but better quality?

This any better? It's got great reviews, but I don't know if it's suitable still

Thats ATX, with 4 RAM slots, at similar price. It's a hot seller according to Scan, so I reckon with your approval Didzo it might be the one
