This rather lengthly article is about the relationship between science and religion, here's the first paragraph:

Martin Redfern wrote:FOR THE first time in 400 years, sensible people are saying some very dangerous things. Theologians are discussing the origins of the physical universe, the beauty of the fundamental laws of physics and the wonder of the complexity of nature. Scientists, too, are discussing what they suggest may be a sense of purpose behind the universe and questioning why those laws of nature should be exactly the way they are and why they give rise to those wondrous complexities. This year, a flurry of new books has been published, written by eminent scientists and with the word ``God'' in the title. It may be that this is in part due to pressure from publishers - ``God'' sells well - but it also represents a profound change of attitude since, until recently, few scientists who value their reputations would have risked the G-word even in private. That scientific books invoking God should sell well is also a reflection on the rest of us. Society seems to be searching for something which neither religion nor conventional science on its own has been able to deliver.

You know, I love how us humans assume that everything has to be this way for life to exist, so it has to be designed.

Yes, the conditions in which scientists presume are needed for life to exist are very specific and for obvious reasons are only taken from examples on earth, which in the grand scheme of the universe is a microscopically small sample with which to make such large assumptions from.

The thing that interested me was the parallel that was drawn between religion and science in reference to Quantum theory, with the universe being held within consciousness, which religion has always assumed and now some scientists are beginning to come to the same conclusion...

Meh, I think it's the same as saying that a god must exist because we can think or breathe; in the end, distant as it might be there's always an independent possibility that something can happen through normal, logical processes, and there's no paranormal intervention. Logical explanations can be faulted at their roots because how we may perceive the world may be faulted, but if we do not trust our own perceptions then there's no point in living or thinking at all.

This is just another product of the fact that humans seem to possess a neverending hunger for something more than what is. First it was religion, then science, and now that we've found out that neither make us happy, we're inventing a mixture of the two. In a hundred or ten or two years, that mixture will stop being enough as well.
