Re: Eurogamer Expo 2010
Okay... where do I start...
IT WAS AWESOME!!
The expo was waaayy better than expected and worth getting up early for. Didn't enjoy the train ride, especially on the way back home, but yeah.
As soon as we got in with a cue of hundreds of people, we were immediately like 'Wooaahh'. My friends went there in '08 and said how it's improved so much since then. This was my first time so it was amazing anyway.
Got to see and play tonnes of unreleased games. Absolutely every game there had such amazing graphics, flawless detail on huge high-quality TV screens. We got to play Assassins Creed: Brother Hood and Rock Band 3 (which is EPIC!!). I was playing the drums with Jakey on keyboard and two guys we never met before. Also played some other games, so many I can't remember. Starcraft 2 was there, which I know a lot of people are excited for.
LittleBigPlanet 2 got tonnes of attention, more than Rock Band 3. Seriously, there were cues just to play the game, and as soon as we all saw it, we all agreed it was amazing. The graphics and levels... My God. Such an improvement. There was a MASSIVE cue for another game, sadly of which I couldn't remember the name of, but it had a Borderlands feel to it.
Sadly there was an Over 18's bit which we couldn't go into. But it had Mass Effect 3 (want!!) and several others which, unfortunately, I still can't remember the name to, but there were so many big names and famous games with sequels and such, you'd all be so happy.
There were presentations and demos all day on specific games. We went to the last 2. The first one was Shogun 2 - Never heard of it before, but damn, it looks amazing. I'm a sucker for graphics but the sheer detail, even in weather, was amazing. Not to mention the gameplay, art and story in itself. The second game? That deserves another thread.
Just remembered some other games.. me and some of my friends tried out two epic car racing games. One tracks the movement of your head to steer the wheel while the other tracks your eyes. There's also the brand new motion-detector game which tracks YOU and not a Wii/PS3 remote or anything like that. You hear of these things every day, new motion/eye-tracking games, but when you actually play it for real and get your own try at it, it blows your mind. The eye-tracking car game was harder than the head-movement one, but they're amazing. Didn't get to try the full body one.
There's also this other game for PS3... it was hilarious. They're introducing PS3 styled Wii-remotes (which actually look cool) and the game itself? Not some sporty thing or fishing or boxing or whatever else Wii introduced. Oh no. It was some funny looking guy riding a backwards computer chair through boxes, shelves, under gates and even right through people. It sounds dumb but actually watching it was hilarious, I love their sense of humor!
I also tried to get a possible apprenticeship or job with one gaming company to design the games or concept art, or a bit of programming. Sadly it may be important to have University degrees for it, so I've got little hope just yet.
But yeah... I think that's all I can remember Needless to say it was so much fun. And we got free shirts!

Re: Eurogamer Expo 2010
Yeah
Forgot to mention, they showed us some Nvidia-something 3D technology.
You know how you go to watch a 3D movie at the cinemas and are disappointed by the slight blurry or double pictures or whatever? Well, this stuff is actually good... like, REALLY good.. it's real 3D, and it's epic, and the technology allows you to do it with ALL games and not just newer ones "compatible" with it o__O want

No not really but it's very precise motion detection on one of them, and the other actually tracks eye movement.

Lol, yes Destiny.
It is, Ghost. The drums are better, the guitar has strings, and there's a new instrument. I really want it, but I only have the GH set >_>

I wont be able to get any of them. No PS3. No xBox. No computer. No money.
God, that was a depressing realization. Thank goodness I got to go to the expo and play before release..

LBP2 looks really really good too. I just watched a couple trailers. I liked the first one but this one looks 100x better. The levels are incredibly creative and unique. Sweet that you have friends like AI bots and gadgets as well. Can't wait!
