Question: How can I get metal?

I am fairly new to the game, but I do have a premium account because I bought some hats, miniguns and various other cool stuff.

Also, what server do you guys go on? UKCS is good because there is loads of trading going on for scrap metal

To get metal, you need to smelt two compatible weapons together. This will get you one scrap metal. To get higher grades of metal you need to combine multiple units of scrap.

3 scrap can be turned into 1 reclaimed, and 3 reclaimed can be turned into 1 refined. This is all done in the Crafting menu.

As a typical hat takes around 3 to 4 refined metal to create, you can see why hats are so valuable in TF2.

Any server running rtd/fastrespawn/32players/ 24/7 of the same map is generally a bad server (also bad for your FPS since the game wasn't really made for more than 24 man play). Truly vanilla servers (no mods at all besides voting and such) are incredibly rare if they're not official Valve servers. I know of a few however:

And Mystery is right, there aren't really enough TF2 players here to justify a trading thread. But to keep on topic:

Hello there good sir! I am a traveling crate merchant! I sell crates to those who want them. I trade 8 crates for any 1 weapon, and I'm on my last batch of crates (mostly series 17 and maybe one series 16 crate). I'm not really one for ripping people off, so I shall warn the new players: crates can only be opened with keys that have to be bought from the in game store. Didzo you strike me as a crate opening man, would you these fine crates I have here?

Also, I happen to have a spare Splendid Screen I'm trading for 1 scrap or any two weapons.

I use the servers at http://www.gamingmasters.co.uk/ there's a number of serious servers and 'fun' servers (specifically randomizer and prophunt, though orange is being included as a fun server now since it's not really a real map and just turns into a sniper/sticky jumper fest)

Lotus clan and UKCS can sometimes be fun for Dustbowl and I also occasionally play on a couple of dodgeball servers.

Not that I trade anymore, but if I did, it would normally be on a trade server, though you can expect loads of people asking for trades that are preposterous.

Going back to trading, i currently have an axtinguisher, jarate and chargin targe for 1 scrap or two random weapons and a football helmet for some other hat (within reason).

You can just go in game and check your backpack the name is on the weapon :/

It is called the Enforcer, it's a level 5 revolver for spies, (just checked it NGin) i've also got a Nessie's Nine Iron (golf club) i'm willing to trade

Sounds like teh guy you got it from was scrap banking, am I right?

I have some stuff up for offer myself... I have an Ali Baba's Wee Booties and Mantreads, among other things.

Nope, I happen to own every weapon with stats in the game right now, so any other weapons I get are from my crate selling and drops. Those two are long gone anyway, got a GRU, Family Business and Liberty Launcher now. Going price for any wanted weapon is 2 weapons/1 scrap (everyone's gotta make a profit, thats why the mannconomy is so screwed up)
