Vektrix wrote:"No Offence" is good as it gives you a reason to be offended.
I use no offence all the time, partly because whenever I say something I worry that I have worded it wrongly, hence my need to immediately clear it up. It's not a habit I am in a hurry to remove ^^'
Also, I don't use Bless you for the sole reason I think it makes me sound kiddy. I instead use "te benedicat", because Latin is easier to say and doesn't sound so childlike.

I often say 'No Offence', but usually because I'm not trying to be insulting, or like Nid, I'm worried that what I say will sound offending. Most of the time it's just honesty, but people (like me) are sometimes hurt by honesty, too.

"Bless You" has God connotations too, as does lot of language. My mum is truly offended by people taking the Lord's name in vain (it is also one of the ten commandments not to take his name in vain.[/quote] (Vek)
So what are we suppose to say instead of bless you if we sneeze?

Then she should be offended by 'Goodbye' as well. Afterall, 'Goodbye' is simply a contraction of 'God be with ye'.

Re: Words and phrases you can't stand
I find it strange when people say "God bless you" when you sneeze.
I mean... really? I only sneezed, why should I be blessed?
Also, the mention of the phrase "so i herd u leik mudkipz", makes me really really annoyed. Internet or not, I just think it is the stupidest and most annoying phrase ever created. There's just something about it that makes it really annoying.

Tyranno, people say that because it was thought the Devil got in when you weren't ready. I know, silly.
Tom, I don't think she understands the finer points of the English Language like that, it is only the obvious ones that she knows.

Apparently in Medieval times a sneeze meant your soul was trying to escape.

I do it with friends and the like during convos, it is more when people you don't call a friend do it. It is like they assume you have seen that programme.
Re: Words and phrases you can't stand
The only I know of that I can;t stand, is when I say i'm tired and people say, "That sounds like a personal problem"
