Civilization Series

I suddenly gained interest in the Civilization games again after some unpleasent matches on StarCraft 2.

Who here has Civilization V? The reason I ask is because I want to play some online matches, but there seems to be no one on the server for some reason.

So, besides that, feel free to discuss Civilization at your leasure.

My vote for best game of ALL TIME goes to..... Civilization IV - Beyond the Sword. My vote for greatest game make goes to Sid Meier and my vote for best game series goes to..... Civilization.

I have not got Civ V yet, but will be getting it. I am addicted to Civ IV though. Reason Civ IV is my fave one in the series is because of the Religion factor. Religion has played such an important in history that it shocked me it took until IV to add it as a significant part. Part of the reason I have avoided Civ V is because I heard they removed Relion as we know it from IV.

I bought the original Civ game in the early 90's and spent days on it. It was only my second ever full game for the PC after Railroad Tycoon, my third game was the original SimCity. I remember taking Civ into school and all my friends said the graphics was bad, I told them the gameplay is better than any game they can think of. Besides, Mario and Sonic are boring to me.

I do have to agree with you, Civ IV is definitely the best of the Civ series. I'm having some problems getting it to work on my computer though. The top part of the main menu title seems to stay off the screen.

Civ is one of the most awesome things ever created. I have Civ V and I played it during the entire weekend, now that I finally have this great new computer that can handle it well.
But I sort of miss some elements from Civ IV when I play, such as religion and several of the scenarios. The Greek World mod was one of my favorite playing types. Some of the new features are great though, like the sensible city border expansion.

I've been playing since the third game in the series.

I wish some things never became obsolete - Monasteries and Battleships especially.

I believe it was Civilization IV that I owned as well as Civ III before that. I did very much like it, but I can't remember how, but I lost my cd for it . I would have bought another copy, but I ended up becoming obsessed with Rise of Nations instead.

I'll remember to add Civ V onto the list of games I need to get.
