Google+: Downfall of facebook?
Bit late as its been out for a little bit, but I was curious if anyone here has gotten into google +? And whether or not you see google + as replacing facebook and twitter. As I have neither a facebook or a twitter account, nor am I planning to get a google + account it doesn't really matter to me, but I've just found it interesting seeing the potential downfall of two of the biggest social media sites on the internet.
From what I've heard google + takes what facebook and twitter has, but streamlines and simplifies it. I've seen a few videos about it and the way they've set out google + looks pretty cool and the group rings seems like a pretty nifty way to group people.
I guess the main question is as I said at the top, do you think Google + will do to facebook as what facebook did to myspace? Or do you think that facebook has simply gotten too large and too well established at this point to be taken down soo easily?
At the current moment I think facebook still have far more users than google + and the major difference I see between when myspace became unused is that myspace was highly highly disorganized. I remember looking at the layout of a myspace page once and its painful to look at. But facebook is not nearly that bad. I'm not sure. google+ might end up taking over, but that is only barring facebook doesn't make some major overhauls to compete with them, which I'm guessing they will.

Well originally I hated facebook, now I just don't like it. I still don't like that these things have to change every few years though. Anyone remember hi5?

I believe Facebook has come to stay, Google will have a hard time convincing millions to emigrate. Facebook is fairly well I guess, but it's not like that I would miss it terrible if Google + turns out to be great. It all depends of what the majority of my friends choose, It's not farmville that keeps me on Fb after all.
As were talking about Google, I don't like that they seem to get more and more control over the Internet. Know how many Internet sites and social networks they already own?

Re: Google+: Downfall of facebook?
The only plus sides I see to Google+ is mass trolling. Which makes it kind of pointless. Examples:

http://artoftrolling.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/chatroulette-trolling-trolling-on-google.jpg
I only use Facebook to communicate with people I don't talk to outside of the internet anyway, and if they aren't using G+ I probably won't too.

Re: Google+: Downfall of facebook?
Facebook is already too big for Google+ to catch up any time soon.
Re: Google+: Downfall of facebook?
I originally hated Facebook, too, but I gave in and opened an account. I don't use my real name, though, because I don't want certain people to find/stalk me.
I've been looking into Google+ and the only beneficial thing I see are the circles and the merged conversations, which help prevent you from telling the wrong things to the wrong people and keeping everyone within a circle up-to-date with your conversations.
I could see a EuroSpore circle in the near future...

Re: Google+: Downfall of facebook?
Hm, I don't have any of these social networking sites. Mainly because the people I talk to are either easily gotten hold of through other sites or if I know them face to face I see/speak to them often enough not to need a FB or somthing.
I like the idea of google+ as it seems less aimed at the generation FB targets and more aimed at a wider audience. I don't think it'll catch up with FB because it seems a little more 'professional' than other networking sites but I think it'll be pretty big in it's own right. Not to mention the power it has behind it. Which, by the way, also scares me that google has such a control over the internet. But that's a different topic.
If there was an ES circle I'd probably get one just to be in the 'know'

Re: Google+: Downfall of facebook?
I don't use either Facebook or Google+. However what I have heard is that Google+ is extremely good. I'm a bit of a Google fan so I would almost certainly sign up with them first. I have certainly been really impressed with Google recently. It seems to be getting smarter and smarter. I just found something yesterday called Google Shopping. If you are are searching for an item it will gather a list of websites that are selling it and compare the prices for you! So useful. I do believe that Google+ will eventually out-pace Facebook. Imagine all the free advertising they could get....

Re: Google+: Downfall of facebook?
Google+ has a problem, it could be the best thing since sliced gravy, but Facebook and Twitter has already beaten it.
I am on all three btw, and started making a EuroSpore circle (you make your own circles).

Re: Google+: Downfall of facebook?
Well I personally hope that it does well. I think that Facebook is rather overrated from what I have seen of it.
