Patching Spore
Is there a way to NOT fully update my copy of Spore? If possible, just update it to patch 1.03 for Exoskeleton parts, and no further? When installing C&C it automatically patches to the latest copy.
If I can't alter the patching, is it possible to remove any packages to bring it back down to patch3? Thanks.
EDIT: Oh, second try seems to have gone to patch 0.02... interesting.

Re: Patching Spore
At the moment, I only have Core Spore. That's it.
I want to be able to use ExoSkeleton parts and C&C parts, but I don't want it to patch further than patch 3.
It's finished installing C&C, so I'll have a look to see what it's done...
EDIT: Lol, this is extremely strange. I had Spore, C&C, Robot Parts (how?), but not Exo-Skeleton limbs I could of sworn to get Robot Parts you needed to fully patch. God, this thing is crazy.

Re: Patching Spore
There should be a patch archive, I am not sure where but i think perhaps on the euro sporepedia. I should think a simple google might turn it up again, will have a look.
You could just install the patches you want, although obviously they will have to be in order, so if any patches earlier than the exo cause problems, it may be a no go.
I know that you can turn to option off to automaticly update, I think when you install creepy and cute, if you go to the advanced part in the wizard there is a bit where you can choose to have the patch or not. I am not entirely sure though, it was a while since I installed it.
I will have a look, if i come across anything i will let you know

Re: Patching Spore
From my latest re-installation, this is how it went:
Spore
- Patch 1
- Patch 2
Creepy & Cute (includes Patch 1 & 2)
- Patch 3 (Exoskeleton Part Pack
- Patch 4
Galactic Adventures (includes Patch 1-4, needs 4 to install)
- Patch 5
- Patch 6 (Robo Part Pack) [can also be installed as a mod]
To be sure you'd have to reinstall Spore, install C&C and only apply one more patch.
Do not install GA or you'll automatically apply all first 4 patches.
I don't have the EADM, so I can't tell whether you can pick and choose the next applicable patch you'd like to download.

Brilliant, thank you very much.
Jezrhen- There are some mods I'd like to test out, but alot of them are not compatible with Patch 1.04+ and Galactic Adventures. I can also live without GA, which is the only thing I'd lose in this.
And, as Nidking pointed out, sometimes it does give me a couple of errors too.

What exactly are those errors you talk about?

Re: Patching Spore
Mainly minor things like BAD_DATA. The most annoying thing is being unable to play every single adventure at a certain point - anything that downloads afterwards is playable, unless the glitch kicks in again. But, since I've reinstalled Spore, and perhaps soon GA, I'll have everything playable again.

Re: Patching Spore
Doing a clean install helps and make sure your preference files are deleted as well. At some point I ended up with three pollination packages, which slowed my sporepedia down significantly.

Re: Patching Spore
Ouch, thanks for letting me know! That should become very helpful.
EDIT: Uhh, well, Spore really doesn't want to cooperate. I simply can not get mods to work with Spore 1.03 and C&C. That's really unfortunate, since I've been wanting this to work for months.
Ahwell. I've learned some new things, so thank everyone for the help.

Re: Patching Spore
Mods are a tricky thing, depending for what version they were written for they might not work at all.

Re: Patching Spore
That's true. The mod was working when Spore wasn't patched at all (but package files were still there). It was until Patch 1.02 did it start to fail, and Patch 1.03 was no better.
However, I've learned which files contain which packages. After a bit of experimenting, I'll be able to see whether or not I have to download things, or if I can just simply copy&paste the files ^^
