The Spore 100

Right, this thread is to decide something ONCE AND FOR ALL. Who are the best ONE HUNDRED Spore Creators of all time. This is something I've wanted to do for a while now, and I still don't know how, but here goes.

What criteria are we considering these people?

Obviously, by their ability in all creators and individual creators. However, you can use all sorts of criteria, from how helpful they are, to how inspirational they are (i.e. have great ideas that make you want to create). Perhaps their ability to organise a contest, or their contribution to the spore community as a whole. How good are their comments, how good are they at commenting. Basically, this list is to tackle as a whole their contribution to spore.

OK, how will the list be compiled?

This is the bit I have been wrestling with for a while. I know of about 25+ creators I would defo put in the list, but cannot decide the order, or the importance to assign to each criteria. I know some creators who are unsurpassed in one editor, yet cannot use another editor to save their life. Equally I know other creators who not brilliant in any editor, but as a whole are well above average in all. This bit is open to interpretition and discussion.

What now?

At this stage, I am not taking nominations for this list, I would like to work out the best method for deciding how to comile the list. Like I said, I think there are quite a few shoe-ins for the list (based on different criteria), but not even in my own mind can I put these in any serious order. So let us discuss this possibility of compiling such a list.

However, those wishing to be a judge, may put forward for their case.

Heh, I've been thinking about doing something like this in the Sporum for so long, but it's been done, and I'd get flamed

Well, for how to make the list, I have no great ideas. I suppose comparing creator pros, cons and work/dedication to the community would be a start, but there's also lots of styles and such to consider.

For example, DiabloDog is one of THE best in realism, where as Foto and Slarti make brilliant recreations of copyrighted content (no creativity) and Werderfan and Parkaboy incorporated their own styles into their works and makes it more unique.

It would be easier to assign people then.

I think I'd rank somewhere between 845'678th and 845'680th. Not bad considering I used to be 3'000'000th

Rey, your social skills will raise you up the list a lot, and you do not give yourself enough credit.

We could also use percentages and such, having a team of judges deciding together what number to give a creator.

For Example:

John Doe
Creating skills - 85%
Adventure skills - 50%
Social skills - 60%

And then (85+50+60) / 3 = Person´s score in percentage.

Then we could place them on the list.

As Vektrix said, some people are better in one editor than the other. I, for example, could be.. what, an 8 in creature? But 4 in building and 3 in vehicles. Adventures are a key thing, too, for those who have made them.. but those who haven't? They immediately get a 0, which isn't good. Maybe a default 5.
Style and Design is pretty much how unique and creative the creator is. As said earlier, Foto and Slarti take popular content into the form of creations, where as Werder and Parka do their own stuff. Personally, I think having your own design is more talented than copying from popular media.
Then.. personality and help to the community helps the creators' reputation as a whole, and may be an important factor.

The higher the total points, the higher up on the list the creator goes.

The only thing about adventures is that not all of the big creators have
GA. World_piece for example, amazing creator, no GA.

I could make adventures, If I had the time. I think the last one I had was Draco and Scorpio and that was in...............December

Maybe those that don´t make creations of a certain kind, (Example: Adventures) aren´t rated in that aspect.

Example:

Mickey Mouse

Creatures: 8
Buildings: 7
Vehicles: 6
Adventures: 6
Style and design: 7
Community: 5
Last thing which name I can´t remember: 6

Score = (8+7+6+6+7+5+6) / 7
That person, supposly has creations from all editors.

Now a person without GA.

Creatures : 7
Buildings: 5
Vehicles: 8
Adventures: N/A
Style and Design: 4
Community: 6
Last thing which name I can´t remember: 4

Score = (7+5+8+4+6+4) / 6


Another thought. That way would be fair for all, I think.

Exactly, which is my concern for the adventure criteria. Copper is another brilliant creator, and as far as I know, she's only made one (brilliant) adventure. G3NJI, I don't think he ever made one. Xervantez and Diablo didn't, either.

Well those three left way before GA came out. Along with others greats like Ursidae,Bellablim,Goatface,Tygerlim Etc.... alot of the huge creators left before GA came out

Exactly, which means they automatically lose on the criteria, despite being some of the greatest inspirations in the community.

Not if you divide by the same ammount of criterias in the equation.

For example:

Someone who has creations in all editors:
Creatures: 8
Buildings: 7
Vehicles: 6
Adventures: 6
Style: 5
Community: 6
Personality: 7

The score of that person would be calculated by adding up all results ( 8 + 7 + 6 +6 + 5 + 6 +7) and then divide by the ammount of criterias ( 7 )
So the result would be X

X = (8 + 7 + 6 + 6 + 5 + 6 +7) / 7



Now someone that doesn´t have Adventures:

Creatures: 8
Buildings: 7
Vehicles: 6
Adventures: N/A
Style: 5
Community: 6
Personality: 7

But now we must be careful when judging this.

Some people might not have GA, while others might have it, only choose not to make adventures for some reason.

So if any of these persons happen to be on the list, there should be a side note saying (Doesn´t have GA) or (Hasn´t made any adventure), something like that, to let other people know they weren´t rated in that aspect.

Of course there´s always the risk of someone not having made any adventure because their adventure creating skill is very bad. Still, if they don´t have any adventure, they may benefit from not being rated in it, since their score could be extremelly low in that criteria.

Indeed. I think, no adventures, then no rating for it.

Also, would outfitting be another criteria? From personal experience, it can be very tricky, and I always looked up to arastoph and G3NJI for that.

Hmm... Sure, maybe we could divide into "Creatures" and "Outfitted Creatures" .. ?
