Re: Horror Movies
again, while there are no movies that have ever really scared me, there are games that have. I think its because of the interactivity of it and the fact that its not quite as formulaic as movies (randomization). Dead Space at some parts got my heart pumping (for anyone who's played it, the part with those creatures which move rediculously fast and twich like crazy).
Nothing major, but I found it scarier than any movie I've seen recently.

Re: Horror Movies
when i played the first resident evil, the dogs that jumped through the window near the start of the game made me jump out of my skin lol. this is because i didnt expect this sort of thing from a computer game:)

You're totally right! I can guess why that's not the same scaries:
Games:
You control your hero who have objective in a really creepy places where you must to kill creepy variety of billion zombies because they can kill you and then you will fail at the missions objective. In the games there are really hard to control your hero in a really dark, creepy, realistic places! Don't forget:
In games you're controller, your mind is working fearfull, your brains are working. Thats WHY!

Re: Horror Movies
Yeah, but I think part of it is when you play as a character (escpecially one that doesn't speak) like in Dead space, you end up immersing yourself, to the point you may feel like its you in the game. Expains why everytime a necromorph burst out of a vent as I walked by it, I had a mild heart attack. I thought i was about to get chomped down on.
Re: Horror Movies
True, but games give you the chance to fight back. You're at the mercy of a movie. The best combination would have to be a movie seen in first person. You'd feel immersed, and you'd have no way to fight back either.

Re: Horror Movies
I agree that games have a better ability to put you more in a scared mood than movies.
For me, at least =)
When I passed Cryostasis, couple of months ago, I was always ready to jump from my chair. That game is just epic. Anyonw know it?
