The Creator's Society

Hello there, since I have now got access to alot more time since exams and coursework is completly over, I am going to start up a project that I have been saying that I would.

Now the Creator's Society is a forum based around the creator's themselves. it doesn't matter what you make, whever it be Photoshop signatures, hand-drawn art, Creating music, modelling etc. Well everyone is free to join! The whole purpose of this is to bring different communities together and to pool ideas together and make new friends. Meet with other people online and chat to them, creat together, whatever you really want.

Now at the moment I am looking at forum software and I have a nice supirse if this all pulls off. Well it will all start off on free forum software like Invisionfree or Forumotion, but If the community becomes active enough and has a good member count (im thinking of about 150+) I will hapilly pay for IP Boards software to host it on. Now i've tried the demo and it's the most stupidly powerful forum software I have ever used. Unlimited possibilities are there (really, there is and it will take several days to describe what you can potentially do with it). Please don't come upto me and say Im wasting my money on it, cause I know people will >.<

So if people can post here and give their general views on this, that would be wonderful!

Yes, but this forum doesn't specialise in that field. What doom is planning will actually be an artistic skill community, as opposed to a SPORE one.

Just got a 5 day demo of the IP Board. Probably going to set some things up there ASAP and then buy the license with the board ready once I get enough members.

so all art things even creative video games like LBP, modnation racers and spore or just real life and digital art through photoshop and GIMP and things?

Does it include literature or other writing stuff?

Sounds like a brill idea because creativity can be found in every aspect of life, be it clothing, arts & crafts, writing, drawings, photoshop or video games.

And if you made an insignia we can use as a form of recognition for our other forum sigs or websites, I would so buy a printed mug to enjoy my tea while browsing the forum.

Well I've decided that getting a larger member count (with some effort) shouldn't be so hard and Im going to buy the 'popular' IP Boards package when I have planned everything out. Even when I do buy it, the wait before members can join the forum will have to be a couple of days since I need to set up a couple of things (including a nice skin, although the default one looks good already ).

I'll announce when I have bought the License.

Chances are im going to buy the second one still. I doubt we'll have more than 25 members on at one time and even if we do, they are fairly tolerant about it.

Bought the License! Just got to wait between an hour to 48 hours for it to comfirm (it's not like im going to fraud it or anything )

Doom, alone with this lot here you'll easily get 50 members in one week.

They said that I can upgrade or downgrade the package at anytime I wish. I'll just see how it will turn out first and then decide if I need to upgrade.

The payment has gone through and I now have the forum! All I really need to do now is set permissions and create some catagories and we should really be ready-to-go by at the very least tommorow.

Rather wait until you have all the categories and a nice theme going before you start opening it.

Bah, having trouble installing the skin, been trying to figure out how to do it for hours. I've uploaded it (and the image set which comes with the skin) and set the permissions so that everyone can see it and it being set as the Default skin. But on 3.1.1 there isn't the immediate option to show it like there was on all of the older versions.

If anyone knows what to do, please help me D:

Well I've added the new skin and set it as the default, which unselects the old skin and makes it un-default.

Well, after how the DAC has just gone to hell and thrown me out, I'm more than happy to join this.

God, I think I'd rather go to the sporum at this time than suffer the DAC. There whining like heck, saying they're going to do something....and then never actually getting round to doing it 'cause they're too busy whinging. I've had it with that place.

So, yeah, simple. I welcome this forum with open arms. Make sure you say when it's done so I don't miss out ^^
