29th April 2011 - What will you be doing?
Ok, on 29th April 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton get married. It will be broadcast, LIVE, in a loads of countries, and I was wondering, what are your plans for the day? Are you like me, and will be hiding in cave in rthe middle of nowhere? or will you be avidly watching the entire day like your life depended on it?
Personally I am going to Birmingham that day, but much later in the day. So I will be avoiding it like the plague.

Let me say I have no interest in that whatsoever. I also have no plans on that day, so I'll just be making it up as I go along.

Watching it, most likely. And then doing something else in the afternoon.

I may have a gander just to see what she's wearing (she's so beuutifool 0_0) but I'll most likely do other, normal stuff because I'm a boring commoner with no ties to any adventurous people that would probably have exciting plans that day.

Yeah, the day will be pretty normal for me, until the evening when I am on a train.
I'd rather spend the day being interrogated by the Department of Work and Pensions .

Thanks Slime.
New Plan: Heavy metal at FULL BLAST, Telly set to PlayStation (playing music through my Hi-Fi Separates system), all whilst playing Unreal Tournament offline.

Who gives a flying SPORE about the royal wedding? Another generation of freeloaders contributing nothing to society but a paycheck for tabloid writers.

If I was in a position to pay tax, I'd complain. As it is I am not, since no-one has been willing to offer me a job. The cost of the wedding in security alone is £20m (apparently). Who pays that? The Tax Payer. if the system allowed it, I'd refuse to contribute to it financially.
I do pay the BBC licence fee however, so perhaps I can complain to them instead - not that it'll do any good.

Even though only about £1 of your tax each year goes towards the monarchy? You pay more each year to support the Commons that you will ever pay across your entire life to support the monarchy.

I'm not intrested in the royal wedding thing. I'll be just chilling out, eat my choco eggs, play spore, pokemon black, Final Fantasy Dissida, drawing, read a book, chores (most likely) and then some Monster Hunter Tri with my Monster Hunter buds Kevin and Indy. ^^

At least I a have a vague (very extremely vague) say who sits in the Commons.
By the way, I could spend £1 of my tax and everyone else's tax a year better.
Re: 29th April 2011 - What will you be doing?
You could save far more by cracking down on expenses claims and making the Commons procedures more efficient than you could from abolishing the monarchy. The idea of abolishing the monarchy becasue it costs is ridiculous when you consider the billions worth of wastage and inefficiency in the MoD alone.
Furthermore, you only have to look over the fact that most dictators that arise out of monarchies force the monarch to abdicate because the monarch is the only legal retraint on them; whereas in a republic, the rise of a dictator is often far quicker and easier, as the President is often an ally of the would-be dictator, if not the potential dictator himself.
Whereas in constitutional monarchies, the monarch is unable to rule directly but is able to impose some restraint on parliament and so ultimately presents the only obstacle to dictators - hence why they force them to abdicate at gunpoint. Thus is the flaw of an elected head of state - they are corrupted by the mud-slinging and 'he did that' culture of politics, whereas a constitutional monarch in effect has nothing to do with it and comes to the scene with an view independent from the mess of politics - you only have to look at the referendum campaigns to see how messy it gets. This is also the benefit of an unelected Lords - it is not simply a puppet of whichever party happens to run the country.
