E3 2011 :O

Well, E3 is coming up in a few days. Spore 2 announcement is also going to be there. lol jk.

So I thought I would make the E3 thread again this year since last year watching the E3 stream was so fun. NGin was the one who sticked through the whole thing I think.

Anyone have some sites doing livestream for it? I know IGN did it on yoututbe last year. Are they doing it again?

Blizzard are taking on a huuuge amout of concept and 3D artists/modellers at the moment, so I think there is probably somthing new in the pipeline.

As for the E3, should be interesting. I hope youtube is covering it, there's no way Id watch all of it, but will be cool to see a few snippets.

Well as far as I know 2 of the 3 big surprises Valve was talking about came and went, only one left. If we're lucky it might just be EP3.

What should be interesting this year is that Nintendo will be showing off "Project Cafe" and Sony will be showing of their PSP successor. Though I dont actually watch E3, the event tends to show off a lot of interesting and upcoming stuff.

Oh yeah, project 'cafe' ahem or wii 2. Im interested to see what that brings up, I anticipate a greater connection between their consoles, like using the DS as a controller or somthing as it already has pretty good wireless connection with the current wii. I also think there will be some sort of kinectish feel to the wii 2.

Im excited for the PSP announcement too as I was considering getting a PSP, but decided to wait and see if the new one would be better.

To be honest, most Valve fans that own most Valve games play mainly TF2 (considering it is the poster child of Steam too) and then L4D/2, Portal 2 and perhaps Alien Swarm alongside TF2 for when they get bored/just want to hang out with some friends. Speaking of TF2, that just gave me an idea.... I must investigate this...

On the Project Cafe subject: Even though both Sony and Microsoft have stated that their consoles still have life in them, if Nintendo comes with a new console (which they will), the other two will be FORCED to make some next-gen hardware otherwise lots of money will be lost, especially if Project Cafe shows to have great capabilities on both the gameplay and graphics fronts.

(Yes I do love addressing everything ) On the NGP: Never was a fan of portables (I prefer to keep gaming to my pc) and the only portable games I play are the main Pokemon games on Desmume, so I can't really say anything. I bet the NGP will have a half decent to crappy line of launch titles.

It seems Nintendo wants to jump ahead of the competition in creating 8th Generation systems. The Nintendo 3DS is already out, and no one knows what the NGP will even be capable of. Nintendo also has a new home consol set for 2012, and Sony and Microsoft have no successors to their systems announced.

My big hope for Project Cafe is that Nintendo improves the graphics capabilities and does more then 10000 party games.

I suspect that both Microsoft and Sony are always developing ideas and technologies for improving their consoles. Also, since Nintendo had a 3 year head start on bring remote gameplay into the public domain they should, in theory, be three years ahead of the competition in this regard - however, I suspect they wasted those years.

Mind you, I saw two stats the other day that astounded me:

Nintendo has almost as many consoles in homes around the world as Microsopft and Sony combined.
Wii: c. 80 Million
Xbox: c. 50 Million
Sony: c. 40 Million

and;

Sony make a loss whenever they sell a PlayStation 3.

Nintendo has said they are gearing up with their next console, even surpassing Sony and Microsoft's current consoles, which would put them on another head start as before in both remote gameplay as well as graphics. If we get what we're expecting here Nintendo may as well be taking their video game crown back - if only for a little bit.

So, Microsoft is pushing the Kinect all the way. Almost every announced game uses it in some way.

Mass Effect 3 will have both inputs and it appears Tomb Raider is still controller based but is now a survival horror game. I was quite surprised about Disneyland Adventures, though. I'm quite intrigued by that on a personal note but it requires getting a the kinect after all. The same counts for Fable: The Journey. What they've showed so far looks like a rail shooter.

Halo 4?

Thats what I said. Bungie ended the series. They shouldn't be making another one. If its made by Bungie I might let it slide, but if its not then this may be the dumbest decision ever.
