RAGE - A New Game

This game... it looks amazing.

We watched at this at the end of the expo, or at least near the end. Sadly it was strictly no photography or recording, so unless the expo was broadcasted on the website or something, I've got no footage.

For one thing, I have never been a fan of FPS. Always annoyed the hell out of me. This? Different story. The graphics are ridiculous, the sound effects are amazing. The general feel of everything combined will certainly create a fantastic game, I've never been so interested in a game just by looks and sounds alone. But the story and gameplay?

As I keep saying the atmosphere is epic. As for the gameplay itself, it varies, depending on what you like. You can either charge through the story fairly quickly (still hours long) or do tonnes of side quests and stories and activities and such for hours and hours of gameplay. For the first time I've seen, there's real variety in weapons, from rifles and pistols to electronic-based shooters and shurikans to some much more and awesome stuff. Even the weapons themselves are detailed outta heck! And when you use them, it's actually realistic. Explosions actually look like explosions, and send out shockwaves which throws people off. One guy even had his head literally fly off and bounce off a wall, while another literally exploded into pieces! Perfect if you're into gory games like me.

There's a great variety in vehicles and mechanics which you can build yourself and improve if you find parts lying around. From what we saw, not only can you make turrets and bots, but even little go-karts which confuse the enemy and explodes in their faces! The ending of the demo was pretty epic where, after killing a bunch of mutants, everything starts shaking, glass falling and such, you turn around and see some huge thing and then the game fades out into the logo. It really makes you want more.


God.. I don't know what to say. This is the first game I've really been impressed by and I really want it. Needless to say I was pretty gutted when he said it wouldn't be finished 'til September NEXT YEAR. He mentioned how it is actually the same in PS3, xBox and PC (because they always vary between platform) and are even making a different version for the iPhone. Co-op, I have no idea what he said about that. But he did also say, and I quote, "There's a new Doom coming out, I've seen it, it looks cool, but I'm not allowed to tell you anything." So sweeeeeeeet for Doom fans.


I think that's all I can say on the game, other than that it looks EPIC AMAZING and I WANT IT .__. also my free shirt is about the game :3

After watching parts of the trailer for a second time, the game seems to be almost a Quake remake (Only without the daemons ) Some enemies and the scenario remind me a little of it

Although the trailer shows the game as a very cool one, I hope it has more to it than what was shown in the previous page.

Ya know, I'm no fan of shooters unless it has that one element that makes it unique. Bioshock, for example, did it for me based on its dieselpunk setting and unique approach to combine "magic" and weapons in an alternative past.

Maybe a playable demo could convince me, too.

Bioshock is amazing. Never had a real go at it, though.

Fact is, I've not played any of these games like Quake or Doom or Diablo or stuff games nowadays are apparently remakes of. So when I see a new game like this or Darkspore, it catches me by surprise as something being new. I have nothing to compare it to, so it seems far more new and interesting to me.

Not impressed really.

Do you know if more enemies will be encountered? Mutants, for example? Or you only heard about bandits?

The bandits looked pretty mutated to me.,

Multiple groups of bandits which vary between strength and combat. Mutants. Giant thingy.

And yeah.. I think most people have played all those games, Ark. I've always been into modern games, though. I guess I was never exposed to the older stuff. Heck, I've not even played Mario since I was 6-7, and yet apparently it's still HUGE.

Alright. By mutants I mean something more like:

I've seen the same game being brought into cycle over and over again, which makes me a tad apprehensive on the final outcome, but only if they can find a unique way of representing the video game basics (levels, extra life, inventory, etc.) and present it in a unique or even artistic environment will they catch my eye.

When it comes to Darkspore, the only unique thing is the editor, which compared to Spore is rather limited. The rest of the gameplay is just routine RPG.

If the story won't carry it, it will be a failure.
