Re: Movie Discussion - What movies did you just see?
Great films set on-board Ships:
Deep Rising
Under Seige
The Hunt for Red October
Das Boot
Erm.. I am struggling to think of any more.

The Hunt for Red October is on a submarine isn't it?

So is Das Boot, but they are still classed as ships.

And with the almighty Sean Connery.

Yes, who despite playing Arabs, Americans, English, European, Russians and various other characters always manages to sound Scottish

That's the beauty in it.

Eddie Izzard once did a whole bit about Sean Connery playing Noah and building a speedboat, and only animals with flowing manes and flappy ears were allowed to ride with him personally... to look cool.

I'm glad I did. It was a nicely-made movie. :-)
Yes. The next three days was one of the biggest (positive) surprises of 2010.

Re: Movie Discussion - What movies did you just see?
Saw the Coen Brother's True Grit the other day.
As with all their movies, it's really well done. Unfortunately the film seemed too short, their movies usually run longer. And I feel they could have done a lot more in regards to the relationships between the characters had the movie been longer. As it was, it seemed to build up and build up and then just be over way too fast.

Just saw the second half of Butterfly Effect. Never watched it before and I didn't catch it in good time on the channel it was on, so I only got half of it.
I liked what I saw. A bit disturbing, somehow.

I just watched Cyrano de Bergerac. For anyone interested in the play, it's a must see. It was remarkably true to the play, and a great adaption. Highly recommend it.

Re: Movie Discussion - What movies did you just see?
Just finished watching both of the movies of Boondock Saints.
Though there were somewhat cheesy portions of it, the movie overall was incredible IMO. Some of the lines were just epic. I had to pause the movie, rewind, and write them down.
Not to mention that parts of the storyline had me at the edge of my seat for a while.

Stonehenge Apocalypse was strangely good, I was even shocked to see Dr. Weir from Stargate: Atlantis in it

Pluto Nash
Always funny to see a silly, action movie like that.

It wasn't a good movie, but at least Murphy was there to make it watchable.

Re: Movie Discussion - What movies did you just see?
Currently watching "The Last Airbender".
Only about 30 minutes in....... this movie is awful. Literally everything in this movie is bad.
Firstly they pronounce the names of literally every character in the movie wrong. I mean all of them.
Secondly, the acting...... possibly the worst acting I've seen in a movie within this century. There performance lack any feeling, an real emotion and it quite obvious they are reading from scripts. Even though they are young actors, there performance are still dreadful.
The action in this is mediocre at best.
I knew this would be bad, as they are trying to cram and entire series worth of story into a 1 hour 40 minute movie, but wow, this movie is definitely going on one of my worst movies of all time list. unbelievably, this movie is worse than Dragon Ball Evolution in my mind...... and i didn't think that was possible.
M. Night Shyamalan............What happened to you?

My Spidy Sense detects mediocrity, could be wrong, but that just my feeling
Re: Movie Discussion - What movies did you just see?
Lol, two negative posts regarding it.
Hope you guys are wrong, though. Jack Black usually does a nice job and Jason Segel has been funny in what I've seen him in.
Fingers crossed.

Re: Movie Discussion - What movies did you just see?
Ark, please don't do it!
You're better off watching the mini-series with Ted Danson, who did a better, more authentic version of it. Jack Black is a funny actor and can do serious roles when he has to but this film looks like it pooped all over Jonathan Swift's work.

Just read the book... much better than any adaptation I've ever seen. However, I will recommend the two part TV Movie with Ted Danson in it, is very good and true to the book.
BAFTAs yesterday and The King's Speech did really well. I saw loads of clips from The Social Network and thought it looked abysmal.
Re: Movie Discussion - What movies did you just see?
I also want to watch Gulliver's Travels , if nothing else because of Jack Black.
I haven't watched the King's Speech, but it seems to be somewhat meh.
