Favourite Genre_ What kind of movie person are you?
Now for me, a good movie, with a good plot, great cast....... and alot of violence, thats a good show to me, but I want to know what your favourite kind of movie is and why?
Extra question? Does who directed the movie affect whether you go see it. E.g Suppose Gary Colman made Avatar and not James Cameron, would you still have gone out to see it?

I like a comedy, or action thriller, although I must say a good well made and written political film is a must see (Frost/Nixon for example).
As far as directors go, if Spielberg made it I'm there (unless it is E.T.), if James Cameron made it I'm gonna aviod it as long as I can. I know he made Terminator and Terminator II, but he also made Titanic, that is the biggest sin one can commit .

haha wow, harsh words. So does that mean you haven't seen avatar? Look I'll admit, titanic blew something shocking, but In my opinion Avatar makes up for it. Easily, visually, the most spectacular movie I've ever seen, the story is meh, but honestly the effects and CGI is absolutely mind-blowing
Re: Favourite Genre_ What kind of movie person are you?
If there's one thing I can't stand then it's excessive marketing of a mediocre film.
Avatar is nothing but an overrated, technology-centric, lemming-fabricating Pocahontas knock-off.
I prefer comedies. Not the look-at-me-I'm-funny-haha comedies like Ben Stiller does but the ones that are genuinely funny because of the situation or the odd cast of characters. You can argue all you want about his movies, he is not funny... on any planet.
I've also given up hope in Spielberg, ever since A.I. he lost his inspiration and moved on to mainly produce films of terrible directors like Michael Bay.
I still haven't forgiven them for ruining Transformers for me.
Give me a good comedy, preferably with some sci-fi or fantasy elements and I'm happy.

I haven't seen Avatar, the only reason I wanna see it is for the effects... which unless I'm study special effects for a course, is lame.
I liked the Transforners Live-action movie, I even likied the story-line.
The best comedy film ever (offically) accordng the British is Life of Brian - there is some funny SPORE. It even has a gratuitous UFO scene in it
Oh, Ben Stiller - as funny as being shot in the head with an arrow, and then finding a gas bill attached to it.

Action or comedies, but not Action Comedies...
I love Life of Brian, but i've always prefered The Holy Grail to be honest just that scene with the black knight, and the Killer Rabbit!

I like the odd comedy, but it has to be good, not one of these half baked rip offs. And I CERTAINLY don't like romances or even romance comedy. Bores me.
I like Sci-Fi, some fantasy movies are good but alot of them can be a bit naff and disney-fied. I like action and horror too although I dislike crime thrillers and such like.
I don't really take much notice of who directed it, i tend to pay attention more to the trailer and go from there. But there are a few names I look out for, such as James Cameron (mainly due to the alien films) and Tim Burton.

i got a bit, um lost, with LOST, due to the fact i missed a whole load of them. I love dr. House, makes me laugh so much as well as having a good storyline. Ghosthunters makes me laugh, some of the things they say. I'd love to go on there just to play it up a bit although the Series 'I believe in...' with Danny Dyer was freaky, especially the ghost bit...

Pfft, when I was a kid I've seen all kinds of horror films and thrillers on rainy Sunday afternoons on the German private channels.Kismet-Scar wrote:Im also for Fringe (wixh is extremele Brutal for a "20:15-Series".

Re: Favourite Genre_ What kind of movie person are you?
Sure.
I dont have any problem with that. Well, I dont think about my soul gets blunt or so. Its a Movie not more.
But anyway im not for showing that kind of material at primetime becasue there are alot children watching Tv that are more influencable.
there was pretty much footage of slashed corpses with half blown away heads and brain, blood and entrails spread all over the station yesterday.

I like the short movies Disney used to make. With donald, goofy etc. Especially the ones with Goofy as George Geef. Those were brilliant! ^^

Honestly, I only encourage children to watch a bit of gore just to get used to it, they can still switch to Nickelodeon if it scares them. Also, a bit of nudity never made a child go blind either. I've seen more breasts on Sat 1 in Germany than on the playboy channel in the US.Kismet-Scar wrote:Sure.

Doesnt change my opinion.. it was pretty brutal for average 20:15 Movies.
I approve 2nd Point.
I dont want to talk about breasts on Sat1
