Hehe, killed the Eater of Worlds again today and am in full shadow too.

Also managed to get a Phaseblade. I thought it'd be much better than the demonite axe, but they're similar.

Next target: Skeletron.

One word: Minishark Also, before you head for skeletron, you should spend some time in the underground jungle, get the various weapons and armor you can find there, they're more powerful than demonite or meteor. Also, if you spend enough time down there you'll have more than enough gold for the minishark. Alternatively, if you want to skip the jungle before you kill skeletron, you can kill eater of worlds once or twice more and sell the demonite bars, they sell for quite a bit.

I downed him with Shadow armor, demonite bow and phaseblade.

Hehe, thanks. I've used a lot of potions, though.

The dungeon was a lot of fun! I've managed to get many nice items, like the Cobalt Shield and the Muramasa. Used the mirror to get back home but might return later at some point.

Still have to look at underground jungle though.

Jungles can now be found overground with a new generated world, so you don't really need to go underground.

Actually you do - hornets can only be found underground and they're the only things that drop jungle armor and stingers which are needed for particular weapons.. Also any chests containing jungle-specific accessories or weapons are underground in little golden shrines. The above-ground jungle is really just to indicate where the underground jungle is haha.. I don't really see any other point to it right now.

Finally got to Hell and managed to find Sunfury. Great weapon!

Going to get the materials to make Molten Armour now.

And got Molten Pickaxe too. ^^

Edit: Here's our castle. We've just finished building it.



Edit2: It has suffered a few changes, such as a little place for a furnace and anvil. ^^
We're also thinking about making a pit outside each door and fill it with lava when monsters attack.

Edit3: Finally have Molten Armor now, as well as some Molten equipment. ^^ But now I'm concerned there's not much else for me to do. :O

Edit4: Been exploring a few Floating Islands by making a long (and very boring) bridge in midair. Found Lucky Horseshoe and Red Baloon, but no magic sword yet.

Anyone around here run a server?

I'm considering to build a ship by one of the map edges, on the water.

I have one, but it's mainly just RL friends.

My underground jungle is right below a meteor, so I found it when I accidentally summoned one. >__>

I'm going to make a lava trap in the jungle so I can get some easy jungle armor. And coins.

Just some casual Harp(e)y Hunting.

Did you just make a tall platform to get up there? I want to fight some harpies/find floating islands.

Yeah, I built my way up there.

The best way to find floating islands is to look for dirt wall formations that are not part of a cave and then build your way up. There's usually an island floating above.

Me and one of my friends have just succeeded in being awesome.
We fought 3 Eyes of Cthulu in one night, and didn't even use a potion.
Flamarangs are epic win

We fought an Eater of Worlds with Star Cannons, but ran out of ammo before we fought the Cthulus.

Started my first HARDCORE character. It makes the game surprisingly exciting and new. Loving the new guide feature where he tells you what everything does. 1.05 patch is looking good so far

Yeah, the guide is a lot more helpful now. ^^

I fail to see any benefit for hardcore mode characters, though. It says they can travel between servers but for all I know regular characters can do that already?

Edit: That thing with chests eating items when the game is closed with Alt+F4 is very annoying. I've read somewhere it saves your inventory but the chest items are reset to the last time it auto-saved properly. Of course most people only find this out after they've had their items removed. There should be some sort of warning or tip announcing this when the game is loading, so people won't lose their stuff. ><

I think 1.0.5 ate my server world.
It keeps saying 'Backup not found' when I try to load an old world...

urgh, I suck at Terraria. Failed twice to defeat the Eye of Cthulhu. Need better equipment. As of yet really the best I can get are flaming arrows and shuriken. Neither are that effective.

Shurikens. Lots of them. That's all I use to kill EoC, just set up a bunch of wooden platforms for maneuverability and aim at the center of his eye and spam click the shurikens until he's dead.

I'll make sure to do that. Its also advantageous that I finally figured out how to make health potions . Hopefuly i'll beat him next time.


Another question. Now it maybe that I just suck, but how are you supposed to survive walking through the corruption area? Every time I get near it, above 8 of those big eaters appear and mess me up. How do you not die walking through there?

Get a broadsword and ideally a grappling hook for the chasms. When walking, just spam the broadsword, and if you see a chasm, grapple over it. Also, I find it easier to traverse in daytime, because you don't have to worry about falling into an unseen pit.

And after you get 3 vines, 30 Jungle Roses and a Grappling Hook, you can make an Ivy Whip.
