Minecraft General Discussion

My server is now both freebuild and it has pvp arenas (warzones) that have just regular battles and ctf. Same features I mentioned before as well, (no economy yet, economy will be used more for COD Zombies like play) but more buildings are there now, and better ones as well.

That sounds like a really fun idea. Haven't tried any PvP so far... but could be interesting

I'm trying to make it a diverse server so that anyone can join, not just pvpers or freebuilders or RPers or whatever else. Though I have yet to implement RP anywhere.

Also, I would appreciate you letting me know if you try to connect. I don't want random people being able to connect to my PC, and I decided being verified manually would be a bit much to try to keep track of with limited computer time.

That's a good idea. I think RP kind of evolves on it's own. There could be places that players end up setting up in the PvP places where they take on the role of healers and so on. It sort of fits into everything by itself I guess.

I think its great that you've tried to impliment all of it in one

Managed or un-managed; doesn't matter.

Install, then go on Hamachi and press that blue button with the on/off symbol to log on. Then go to:

Network>Join an Existing Network

Fill in the spaces with what Iridescence (do you have a shorter name I can call you?) said.

Oh dear damnagoras... That doesn't sound good at all XD I really want to make an Ice palace from snow and ice, but don't want it to be overly dark either... Silly melting realism.

I seem to make a huge amount of single player worlds. I've got ones for specific texture packs and all sorts...


In other news, I feel a little more comfortable with Redstone now after Beor showed me how to make a '5 clock' circuit on SMP last night. It was funny actually, we turned my house into a rave with repeaters... even though the server crashed the party. Quite literally.

And in ohter news, I've finnaly figured out how to make a logic gate work. Sort of. I've come up with a simple 5-clock, just to see what happens.

I could have some fun with this...

When you click Multiplayer on Minecraft, type the IP from Spencer-PC that you find in Hamachi. Then connect.

Betapocalypse... twice! I personally can't wait.

I'm kind of happy he has broken it up like that. I enjoy a game that is upgrading alot. Im also excited for the pistons. Hawk (not Hawk here ) and I were saying about using pistons to make a ferriswheel and I thought of some fairground games you could make with them. I think it will improve the game alot.

Well, I have a day off on thursday... plenty of time to get betapocalypse underway

Well, we all know that this Thursday there will be pistons.

But Notch has also given some details about the 1.8 Version. In this version there is going to be at least one new mob (maybe more) and on his blog mentioned about levelling and experiance (all be it as an example) so could be in his mind.

He also said there would be new ways of farming and NPC villages. This ties in with what was said about hostile, neutral and friendly villages. I also think the whole, capture animals and keep thme in farms thing will be implimented.

Looks like minecraft is getting a huge makeover, gameplay wise.

Lets hope it doesn't take away from the game too much.

Yeah, I feel the same way Vago. I hope there is some sort of setting basis for the NPC's I kind of enjoy being alone on the game. (apart from multiplayer, obviously)

I am looking foward to the 'complex terrain' he intends to impliment though. Biome coloured water and stuff, aparantly. That might also mean the biomes arent so stop start. I hate seeing a straight line with snow on one side and sand on the other XD

I seem to remember him saying he was going to add a vinaigrette style thing where if you're in a cold biome you're vision would turn a bluey color to signify it was cold and if you were in the desert it would turn a red or orange to signify you were hot. I don't remember if it had any application, like having to drink water if it was too hot or having to stay warm if it was cold (Though those would be cool), but I liked the idea.

I hope there are options for some of these features, as I really don't think playing with all of those features all of the time would be all too fun personally.

It would be a clever move if, like you guys said, an option to tag the features you want is created. This would allow people to choose the way they want to play the game.

I'm curious about the next update.

Since my server doesn't work with 1.7 yet, I decided to do a Diamond Speed Hunt on a new singleplayer world. In 20 minutes, I got a gold pick, a gold shovel, 32 lapis lazuli, a diamond pick, a diamond shovel, and a diamond sword.

Mission accomplished.

In regards to all the new features. I like the idea of emphasizing the hot and cold, but I think if its not subtle enough it would get annoying. So I really hope there is somesort of option on the new features.

Didn't he also say he wanted to add a mode where you can have a hunger level too? Maybe being hot or cold effects that too. That would really suck if you spawned in a huge desert.

Yeah. He did mention something about a realism mode. I also think if you played on realism mode your world got deleted if you died...

Hey everybody, I'm working on a skyscraper-type structure, and I'd like to have an elevator of some sort in it.

Does anyone have any idea about how one would make such a thing?
