Items of general intriguement
Now as most here know, I do enjoy things of general intriguement.
So I was wondering, what things everyone here owned that might be of general intriguement (or at least mild intriguement). Or what items of intrigument have you owned in past?
Here are some of mine:
A zippo lighter with a tribal face on it
While I do not, nor ever intend to smoke, give a 17 year old $60 and he'll waste it on something silly. But hey, at least I can do what they do at concerts and hold up a zippo during slow songs.
My laser etched glass skull
I have two three other laser etched things, but the skull is my favourite. Got them while I was visiting America.
Japanese retractable bladed ninja star thingy ma do
Again, give a 17 year old money and he'll waste it on something. I again bought this while I was in America and is only one of more than a few kinds of knifes I bought.
A bag of money from around the world
An ordinary bag containing coins and a few notes of money from around the world. Some of the coins are as old as 1912. They probably have little to no value but they are interesting to look at.
Toldt's Atlas of Human anatomy Vol I & II
I'm only holding up volume 1. While they may appear un-remarkable, they are actually quite old. Soon to be 100 years old infact and yet contain some of the most detailed illustrations of the human body that you'll find in any text book anywhere. Both volumes put together almost certainly have a much greater value than all of my other books combined.
So what items of Intrigument do you own or have owned in the past?
(Don't worry, you don't have to post a picture of it/them, you can just describe it/them.)

Re: Items of general intriguement
The items of intriguement I've owned/currently own, the ones I can recall:
One of them was a rock shaped like a coca cola bottle, a small one. I have no clue where that is now, but it truly looked like one.
Another was again a rock, but this one resembled a polar bear. Like the above, no clue where it is. They both have to be around here somewhere, though.
I do have a statuette of a Skeleton warrior, all geared up with armour and weapons, but it's currently at my parents'. ^^
Can't think of anything else at the present time.

- I like lighters too. I also like playing with flames, which has led me to ponder a few times if I have a little bit of pyromania in me. Anyways, you can do a funny trick with lighters, if you close your hand like a shell on top of your leg, while wearing jeans, then hold merely the lighters' button to unleash gas into the closed hand. After about 5-10 seconds of releasing the gas, if you light up naturally and immediately open your hand afterwards, a graceful fireball will shape and quickly disappear.

Another trick (Ark's warning applies):
Several keyrings/souvenirs/coins from across Europe, two dollars from America (Although I've never been there), and a stylophone I've probably got even more stuff hiding away somewhere.

- Making a flamethrower with by spraying deodorant through a flame is fun

@Ark. Okay losing a rock the shape of a coca cola bottle is one thing, but losing a rock in the shape of a polar bear? Why, ark? Why?! To have a rock that looked a bear, and specifically like a polar bear is a rare privilege.
@Trick I wish I had a stylophone. There are so cool and monophonic sounding.
Also as for your lighter trick. I think a lot of people know that one.
Have you ever tried:

Re: Items of general intriguement
Another trick you can do with a conventional lighter:
I've owned many intriguing objects, most of which I have gotten rid of due to limited space and the fact I'm not fond of dusting. However, I still have a few of them in my possession:
A lighthouse-shaped lamp
A small African drum
Antenna of a remote controlled car
A basilisk fountain replica
A Sleeping Beauty Castle replica
Hylian belt buckles
LED belt buckle
Small Japanese fan
Mickey-shaped collection bowl
I have another item of general intriguement coming by mail but knowing them it'll take a while. Will keep you posted, though.
- Spoiler:
- Holding the lighter upside down, roll the wheel in the opposite direction and collect some of the metal dust in the palm of your other hand. Now, when you light up the zipper, you'll get a few sparks and by sprinkling the fine metal dust over the flame you can create more sparkles.

Re: Items of general intriguement
I don't have many, but here are a few.
This is one of a mere 134 mini trucks and vans I inherited from my grandmother- this is just my fave.
A Concorde Cufflink, given out to people who have been on concorde. Again, inherited from grandmother, who got it when she went with her mother for her mother's 100th birthday.
I also have three 5 cent coins from the US,. even though I've never been.
A painting from my step mum, which I shall try and take a photo of of, I just tried, but glare was an issue.
A Wii remote, but I do not, or never have owned, a Wii.

Andy, you have some interesting stuff.

@Trick,if you think thats dumb, then you do not truly understand the art of playing with flammable liquid Thats one of the more tame things I've done with flammable liquids.
@Pat. I actually think I still own one of my gamecube controllers, even though I haven't had my gamecube for...... going on 7 years. I'm pretty sure when we were moving up here to penrith from the blue mountains I saw it in one of the boxes and I remember when I sold my gamecube I couldn't find one of the controllers. I might look for it, even though it has absolutely no use for me what so ever.
Out of interest, why do you have a wii remote?

Good luck in your pyromaniac career Remi
I just found a mini wind up torch I bought from the Natural History Museum. Might turn out useful someday.

I also just noticed, I have a few hats, a bowler hat, a fedora and a top hat.The fedora was my grandfather's, the other two I had acquired while attending acting classes.
I also have a few collector coins from the Septcentennial of Switzerland. They should be worth something. =/

You and Indiana Jones, Trick.
The only I have off of the top of my head is a collection of hourglasses...I went through a bit of an obsession at one point. And a large colection fo shells and corals. I'll try to upload some pics at some point.
Oh, and one of the biggest nuts in the world.

I collect anything i like the feel or look of, i am a massive collector of books and have all of Stephen King's books.
Re: Items of general intriguement
This is an interesting thread.
I have loads of odd knick knacks.
Tonnes of money from places I ve never been. A lot of semi precious rocks/minerals, ranging from quartz to jade and lazuli. I have a lamp that is quartz, with a hollow inside and obviously a light.
Then theres all my little childhood trinkets, like a collection of kinder egg turtles from the nineties.

@Red I do not wish to correct you, but this is an "intriguing" thread
I used to own a quartz rock. Have no idea where it went.
Been looking through my stuff. I have a lot of very old and probably valuable books put in places valuable old books shouldn't be placed. I also almost completely forgot. Back when Halo 3 came out, my brother decided he wanted to get the limited edition version, so he could get the Master Chief helmet. When it came, he was bitterly disappointed as you can't actually wear the helmet. So currently thats sitting in a suit case in my closet.
I also have a profession poker set that I have never used. Comes with a mini steel brief case for the chips. I think I open the case once.

Re: Items of general intriguement
My latest item of intriguement has arrived this morning! I was quite surprised to find out how much bigger it is than I expected. Well, by now you could consider me a sucker for Disney castles, but I couldn't resist right after I found out they started selling this collector item again after ten long years.

Very detailed . I'd ask how much it cost, but I'll just assume its probably worth a pretty penny.
Wish I owned stuff like that. Not necessarily a Disney castle, but collectible statuettes of some sort.

I have a new item of intriguement:
It's aweapon to kill my mortal enemies letter opener with a tiki god carved in it. I almost got a tiki idol but my mom didn't know whether I liked that (which I do as noted) so she brought me back this from her pacific cargo cruise adventure instead.

Awesome tiki blade there Andy. I imagine you'll be killing many foes open a lot of mail with that.
I used to have a tiny wooden tiki, but for the life of me I have absolutely no idea where it disappeared. Haven't seen it since before I moved well over a year ago.
