I have too much I want to do during the following year, so you could borrow my time machine if you're willing to help me with a little favor. It involves deeds of great evil, an intricate scheme and admitting me as your almighty lord. You must leave your home, give up your identity and serve my indomitable will. You will have to travel far and wide in space and time, uncover secrets that were not meant to be uncovered and face obstacles more horrifying than anything you could ever imagine. It also requires you to sacrifice your most valued treasure in life and to be haunted by the memory of a beautiful woman whose company you shall never get to enjoy. You will face hardships and darkness, and more than once will you wish you could go back. But you won't be able to. There will be no going back.

So, deal?

Yeah I am glad to see they still got some of the same actors in there. I would have had a fanboy heart attack if they replaced Gandalf with another.

Well its been a while since the LoTR movies, so I would have been worried that Ian McKellen would be a bit too old to have the energy needed to play Gandalf. You should see Christopher Lee, the guy who played Saruman in the movies. No way he could make a return in his condition (though I'd doubt Saruman would have anything to do with the hobbit movie anyway). But yes glad he stayed. Would be hard if not impossible to replace him.

I think Christopher Lee actually is returning for The Hobbit. Originally he said he wasn't, but on his website it says he is, assuming he stays in good health.
He'll be showing Saruman's corruption by Sauron.

I thought is was very good too. Can't tell yet if this trilogy will be better than the LotR trilogy yet though. Looking forward to Desolation of Smaug!

I think this series is going to end up being better than the LOTR. The main protagonist in this series is just so much more likable than Frodo ever was.

While I really preferred Bilbo over Frodo as a main protagonist, I have to say, I found the story and darker tone of the LotR series to be much more interesting than the more lighthearted vibe of The Hobbit. I enjoyed the Hobbit, but I think it was a bit more cartoonish than necessary at times.

Seeing as how it was meant as a children's story, I don't mind. Smile Smile
