Police said a man attempted to rob a convenience store using a Sony Playstation remote control.

According to reports, Cameron Pittman, 20, hid the game controller in his pocket and pretended it was a gun as he tried to rob the Sun Food Store on 62nd Avenue S.

He was arrested by a police officer who walked into the store in the middle of the robbery, police said.

Pittman was suspected in an earlier robbery at a Subway restaurant. Police received a tip that Pittman might have been at the store, and so when the officer went inside, he caught Pittman in the middle of the act, police said.

Police said Pittman dropped the remote and gave up.

He is facing charges of strong-arm robbery and violation of probation.

Well you can kill people by the dozens on call of duty using a remote, that doesn't mean you can use the same controller to kill others in real life Razz

If someone was robbing a place and claimed to have a gun in their pocket, I don't think I would believe it. If you are robbing a place what reason who you have to hide the gun? Chances are they just have a banana or in this case a remote in their pocket.

Apparently if you press Square ten times in one second, then Triangle and Circle together, it turns into an ice cream, but IO do not know the cheat for turning it into a gun Facepalm

There have been all sorts of successful and unsuccessful things used in robberies. Bananas used to be quite popular. And as far as disguises go, the worst I can remember was a couple years ago when two men covered their faces in black felt pen instead of using a balaclava or a pair of high denier tights.

People are now much less afraid of robbers because of they are aware (probably subconsciously) that unless they show what they are using, as opposed to pointing their pocket at people, that they do not have a gun. As a society, I think we are much more willing to call other's bluffs.

If a store was being robbed by an over grown care bear with no weapon, I don't think I would be afraid (weirded out, but not afraid), nor would I beg and cower.

So you couldn't say people fear anything in general. And seriously, if they knew he only had a remote, who would honestly fear him? What could he do, throw throw the remote at you? If someone in the store knew he only had a remote, someone would have tried to take him out (if the policeman wasn't there), unless he was a larger gentleman.
