Also, you could search for Abandonware - mostly games from the 80's and 90's but there are some games from the noughties too.

It is quite annoying how many games I paid almost £10 - £45 for are now free Facepalm

I am just searching through some abandonware - some absolute gems are available for nothing, inlcuding two of my all-time faves, Railroad Tycoon Deluxe and Unreal Tournament Shocked

I am currently downloading Diablo II.

Be warned, I have tried some of the older classics and they do not work on Windows 7 - shame really, but the do work on XP. Not tried any of the other platforms.

I'm deathly afraid of getting a virus. I've gotten two really serious ones in the past. So I try avoiding free full game downloades, though some fun, stupid mini games sites would be www.puffgames.com and www.crazymonkeygames.com. I know that you can download, GTA 1 and 2 for free and you can get some free downloads like counter strike and halo multiplayer, which are relatively safe. I used to have them, but for the life of me can't remember where I got them from

abandonware? If it has unreal tournie for free, I am there!

EDIT: scratch that. I found it, and along with it things like Baldur's gate, final fantasy, Discworld (I have tat game but meh, I still love it), sim ant Laughing

You could always use BitTorrent and apply the 'five year rule' to get plenty of old games.

Also there is Dwarf Fortress which I'm currently trying to play, but the game looks like THIS even with the graphic mod on and is ridiculously complicated and hard to learn at first. If you're into Dungeon Keeper/Evil Genius-esque sandbox sims you'll probably fall in love with it, but not before you spend ten hours playing along with a wiki-window and a video tutorial.

Yarr. DF is great, but having to NEED the tutorials is incredibly annoying, and is what prevents me from playing it again Razz

Also, for games, my favourite website has always been www.shockwave.com. It's possible that it may have changed since I was last on it, but if not, most of the games should be completely free.

Well, if you're into free online RPG's, (Or MMORPG's) you could always take a look at IGG's website, they have a handful; IGG

Personally, I play Voyage Century Online, which is quite awesome, considering it's totally free to play. And I just can't get over how awesome ships you can get in it ^^ (I'm a sucker for beautiful old galleons...)
