When celebrities don't tick you off...
Opposite of the tick you off thread because promoting negativity is not a good thing, Arkanay!
Basically talk about celebrities you like.

Good idea, LoD.
I like when celebrities use their resources in ways they can to promote general welfare and good for people in need, for instance, Oprah. Of course she's not the only one, but I think she's a good example.
Also, Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden gives some funny interviews.

I don't like Oprah, for the same reason I don't like Springer or Kyle.
I used to not like Bill Gates, but he gives Billions a year to charitable organisations. That has changed my mind to actually like him.
I also like the Mythbusters team - great bunch of people.
Re: When celebrities don't tick you off...
As horrible Keanu Reeves' acting abilities may be, he's known for putting a lot of his profits to good causes. That and he's sometimes acts just like his character from the Bill and Ted movies.
I have to agree with Vek, Oprah is a hypocrite, one day she talks about starving children in Africa and the next she boast about her many, many celebrity friends. She would have shows with giveaways or tell women to buy expensive clothes and stuff and the next week she has guests on the show whose credit debt ruined their lives...

I didn't like Bill gates either, untill this girl at our school lost her father in an accident while they were on holiday and the company her father worked at had some sort of connection to Bill, so he gave them some 'financial support' to help them through it. It made me change my view because it wasnt somthing that everyone was going to know about, so it obviously wasnt a publicity stunt. It was actual empathy and support.
Also, I second the Mythbuster team. They seem pretty much themselves on the show which is nice to see, the sort of entertainment I like

When celebrity folks don't tick me off, someone else inevitably DOES.
buuuut, that aside.
Rest in peace Jim Cronin, founder of monkey world, for his contributions to the animal kingdom.
Also, any celebrity who gets famous for legitimate reasons, I don't mind.
If you actually have vast amounts of talent, I do not see why you should not be highly praised, as long as it doesn't go to your head.
Modest Celebrities I adore. So rare. They are people who treat the masses like equals, and that takes guts.
Oh, and people who actually deserve knighthoods, I respect. That means those football managers who have knighthoods? Not on my list. Knighthoods are meant to be the apex award, the greatest you can get, and should only be available to true heroes. football managers do not count. it is a game.

Totally get where you come from on the Footie managers... as if their ridiculously high salary isnt enough. But enough negativity from me...
I respect well known people who will go and help out with stuff, like charaties and so on and don't want to be followed by a TV crew or get mass recognition for spending 'time with the lowerclass' if you get where Im coming from?
There are only a few celebs that do that I guess, but when they do I kind of admire them for it. Then again I admire anyone who does that sort of thing.

I agree with you on that, Nidking. Whenever I hear about Knighthood, regardless of the country, it immediately rings a 'Hero' bell in my head and then you see those titles being given to certain people for reasons that are not really heroic nor astounding...
It's a bit disappointing, somehow.
---
I like Sue Johanson. She's an honest, smart and fun person (crazy sometimes), who has no trouble in admitting when she doesn't know something. She then directs the person to someone who can potentially help. This is my perception of her.
I think her show should be on TV more often. It's educational in proportions beyond measurement.

- Sir David Attenborough -
Do I need a reason? He is an immensely interesting man, I am slightly envious of his travels and experiences, but he shows genuine knowledge and enthusiasm for his subject. He deserves his knighthood as a lot of his work involves raising awareness for Global Warming and the Human impact on Nature.
- Stephen Fry -
Just clever and witty. He is open about his problems and past as well. He just generally has the ability to cheer me up and make me forget about my worries for a period of time - he destresses me.
- Hugh Laurie -
Immensely funny and talented man, is generous with his talent too.
==========
On footballing knighthoods.
Sir Alex Ferguson did NOT deserve his knighthood since I am not aware of any charity work he has ever done - besides, he is also famous for being bad tempered. However, Trevor Brooking, Geoff Hurst and Bobby Charlton have all contributed through charity and being the face of charities. Trevor Brooking does a lot of work in promoting Grass Roots Football, which is a great way to give poor kids and the like a way out of crime etc.

Stephen Fry, Sir David Attenborough and Hugh Laurie for the same reasons Vek said
Paul Merton - for being witty and clever, and also he does some great documentaries as well as his great contributions to HIGNFY and Just a Minute
The late Sir Clement Freud - who was good at quiet a few professions in his lifetime including; restauranteur, MP and comedic broadcaster. He also was one of the founding members of ASH in the UK
TERRY WOGAN! (self explanatory )

Conan O'Brien- Always found him to be the funniest of the late night american talk shows. Unlike the others, he's not shamed to look goofy and lame, infact he's quite proud of it.
Michio Kaku- Vague calling him a celebrity, but if you watch a reasonable amount of science programs you'd probably know who he is (does a lot of shows on the discovery channel). From watching show after show after show with him in it, I've grown to greatly admire and respect him. Incredibly intelligent and makes anything seem possible, no matter how fantastical it might be.
Jon Stewart- Almost non can humiliate and make fun of politicians better than he.
Stephen Colbert- I always liked Stephen Colbert. His overly egotistical and yet at the same time self deprecating sense of humour always amuses me. And I liked him even more when I realized he did the voice of Phil Sebben from Harvey Birdman: Attorney At Law

Must agree on Merton and Wogan.
Can I just say, I used to not like Graham Norton, but I am warming to him, mainly because he is less gross than he used to be, and has basically continued where the Wogan left off in Eurovision.
I have ZERO experience on any of those peeps, Rem. However, I have a feeling I may have seen Michio if he is the guy I think you are describing.

I love Graham Norton. As a person he's too camp for my taste, though, but he's spot on as an entertainer. I was catching up on his show the last couple of months.
