My features were so terrible I refuse to show them. Honestly two way better creations from anyone could have taken those feature spots from me. Why maxis featured my golden spire wall and chinese dragon is beyond me.

Sometimes I indeed wonder why maxis features something. That jackalope that is on the feature list right now for example. No idea why that is feature worthy. (no offence to the creator meant)
I'm just glad one of my better works got featured and not a sucky one...

Most of the time it appears to be just pure luck. Alot of times people also get featured for winning contests (Maxis-hosted contests though, of course), or if they have a creation that suites that day (like how all the creations featured on April 1st related some way to April Fools). Occasionally they will pick something from the "Post Your Suggestions for Featured Creations" thread too.
