NEWS: Snakes on a train
HANOI, Vietnam — Railway officials have discovered snakes on a train in Vietnam — highly venomous king cobras in bags under a seat.
Railroad official Pham Quynh says passengers were terrified when four cloth bags containing the writhing cobras were spotted Friday. The snakes were alive but had their mouths stitched shut.
Quynh says the exact number of snakes was unclear but the bags weighed 100 pounds (45 kilograms).
Security staff removed the cobras, which were likely destined for restaurants in Hanoi. Their owner apparently escaped in the chaos.
Snake meat is considered a delicacy in Vietnam, but cobras are protected by law.
Quynh says the cobras were given to forest rangers who released them into the wild Saturday after no one claimed them.

Awwww, poor snakes. That must of been horrible for them, there must have been at least 20 in that bag judging by that weight. Honestly, stiching their mouths? I hope whoever does that sort of thing gets bitten.
This reminds me of that story a few weeks back about that guy who had baby, I think it was leopard, cubs and exotic birds and some other type of cub, in his suitcases.

Yeah, Vietnam isn't a place I'd say is particularly high up on the animal rights chain.
As for the other story. How do you fit a leopard cub into a suitcase?
@Slime: You had the courage to say what I could not
Re: NEWS: Snakes on a train
That's what I thought, but they were extremley young and apparantly heavily sedated. The only reason they spotted it was there were skeletons in the x-rays at the baggage thing. Silly man.

Snakes on a plane? No, snakes on a train!
But seriously, that's horrible... who would go and stuff these poor mouth-stitched-shut snakes in a bag?

Snakes on a Train is a film too, it is worse than Snakes on a Plane and that is a ad film anyway.
