Ok, here goes, achieved Level 4 and unlocked Vex

My game has now frozen on saving and leaving the editor, nothing happening whatsoever, anyway, my first impressions.


The premise is meh, seen it a million times before, certain doom, so a select few are saved... blah blah blah. That is essentially how Freelancer starts.

The gameplay and character development reminds me so much of Diablo it is unreal... I am now calling it Diablo in Space. The only difference is items aren't dropped as frequently.

The editor is awesome looking, but for some reason I cannot see the colours in there, no idea why. My heroes all remain the dull placid creamy blue colour no matter waht colour schemes I use.

Graphically is very cool, and the squad system is cool, though a little X-Men: Legends.

Anyway, it has crashed, so a break it is for me.

Almost ready to play! I had so so SO many problems with my internet last night, so I couldn´t even download the patcher. I hope to join you soon.

I think, Vek, that you have to go into 'paint' mode in the editor to actually see their colour. At least, that's what I've found.

I REALLY like the gameplay, and also how challenging yet fun it was. I for one had a great time doing campaign with Becca and Arastoph plus this dude called BlackTemple. The gameplay was really immersing, and it made a great change to Spore.

I think they need to improve the graphics in 'arsenal' mode, as the characters in your squad seemed really LQ, and had choppy edges. I know they are meant to be 'holograms' (I think) but that doesn't really excuse the choppiness of the edges. I had my settings on medium, as well.

Sorry Trick about your party invite, I did see it (obviously) but the editor ALWAYS crasges on exit for me, so I couldn't respond. I'll be back on in a minute.

Ah alright. I'll do one campaign in the mean time.

Finally worked out the editor - just got Vex, Sage and Zrin upgraded, not happy that you replace parts rather than add.

SRS-something is epic win. He's so freakin badass. He IS a tank. I played one level with him, and his attack is a freakin ROCKET LAUNCHER

Marky, are you online atm? Vek and I are planning to do a campaign.

Btw, Sage ftw... liking Sage a lot, suits my style of play well.

My fav is Goliath by a mile. Can take loads of damage, and can deal a lot too. I love tanks.

Darn it, I'm too busy even today to play the beta. Can't Maxis open it during the week?

He takes the meaning of the phrase "OMG this guys a tank" to a whole new level. He IS a tank. Mech dude with rocket launchers ftw!

Barrage attack looks so sweet in-game, with missiles falling from the sky

I tried SRS Business out, he's ok. Everyone has their favourites though. Mine happens to be Goliath.

And I can truly say "IMMA FIRIN MAH LAZOR", due to him having a laser

When I finally get to play, I'm going tank. I don't know too much about all the character, though. Tank is just my style. I'm a front-lines kind of player in games. Distanced attacks and speed never really meant much.

I need a new computer to play, though. I'm getting one anyway, so I think I might preorder the game. It sounds sick.

Up until the final boss of part 1 of the campaign (1-4 ins't it?), Sage just trashed everything. That boss was rather annoying to say the least. It was just Pull, pull, get hit, pull, pull, get hit, until I messed up and sage died; hurr :3. In my opinion, ravagers aren't very good in comparison to the others. I'm yet to find a use for them. You either go up close and personal and tank the damage as a sentinel or draw them away and pick them off individually, or dodge their attacks as a tempest.

And when do you get to use each of your squad abilities no matter which hero is currently active?

Yeah, tank is my style too. The boss was really easy for me, I was on my own the first time I was on that level. Just use a tank character, save your abilities, and you can destroy the boss easily.

What's your squad?

Mines: Goliath, SRS, Blitz.

I had Blitz (he's the plasma ravager isn't he?), Sage and Goliath (energy sword guy).
Even with my +110 health item on Goliath he was almost dead within a few seconds.

Though, Sage's pets started attacking the boss as it was spawning, which is obviously a bug and was quite funny at the time. And just by shooting the boss from a distance continuously and with 1 pet melee-ing the boss and almost regenerating the same amount of health as it was taking, I got it to half health without even taking any damage, then it split into 4 and ranging it was utterly useless. Every time, I would be pulled into the middle of all 4.

Vex's weapons are really effective, you use them and are not sure anything has happened until you realise everybody is dead.

SRS's Missile Barrage is probably the best attack I've seen visually, quite effective too.

Zrin is not my style at all, he looks cool, but I am more of a distance kinda guy.

I love Sage, his Tree attack is just pwnsome, as long as you have enough energy, you never need to get any health with him. And Trick, I kept using Sage's power on you to send you into a rage and double your damage

My Squad is Vex, Sage and SRS-42a.

Goliath usually lasts the whole map for me, Mystery.

Now my squad is: Goliath, SRS Business and Viper.

And I noticed the difference, Vek

I like getting up close.

Trick, what level was your Goliath at the time, out of interest?

By the way, how do you change squads? I've bought an extra squad, but I can't find where to change to it so I can fill it up......help plox?

Also, can you guys invite me to your game? I'm bored of editing....
